Commandos storm Dhaka restaurant, find 5 bodies; 12 rescued

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) — Bangladesh forces stormed a restaurant where heavily armed militants held dozens of people hostage for 10 hours Saturday morning, triggering explosions and finding at least five bodies lying in pools of blood. Japan's government said that 12 people were rescued.

LGBT rights groups win as US judge blocks Mississippi law

Sierra Leone diplomat kidnapped in Nigeria; $40M ransom

Phuket condo owners warned 'holiday rentals' less than 30 days risks fines, jail time

Renting condos out for periods of less than 30 days, the prime length of stay for holidaymakers, may bring the owner a fine of up to B20,000 or even up to one year in jail.

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Land Office has issued a formal warning to owners, developers and managers of condominiums that renting out their properties on a daily basis is a breach of the Hotel Act that may incur a fine or even jail time.

Flower vendors call off protest after dumping flowers to block traffic

Shrimp slaves wait for justice 8 months after Thai raid

He ran for help and prompted police to raid the business, freeing nearly 100 Burmese laborers, including children.
