BANGKOK, 4 July 2016 (NNT) – The Director General of the Department of Land Transport (DLT) disclosed that over 66,000 public transports have been equipped with the GPS system to raise the safety standards for public transports.

DLT Director General Sanit Phromwong disclosed that since January, over 66,000 public transportation vehicles have been equipped with the GPS system, in an attempt to raise the safety standards of public transportation.

The DLT has designated that newly registered vehicles must be equipped with the GPS system to link the data with the DLT within 2016.

All public transports are required to be equipped with the GPS system by 2017 as well as the all trucks in 2019 under the supervision by the DLT’s GPS System Management Center.

Does the GPS system then also come with care and

maintenance checks as well as driver competent checks,?

First they need to teach the drivers how to drive.

What use is gps?

To show the DLT where to find the bus when the driver has legged it.

How does the DLT intend to monitor this system.......in 60,000 vehicles....and then later a further ~60,000 trucks etc...

They obviously don't understand the system just yet.

" From the data we received the driver clearly drove down the wrong side of the road to beat the traffic light queue, stopped halfway down blocking all oncoming traffic to take a piss at the side if the road, cut in front of the car at the front at the junction and took the side out of some poor sod's car who was coming through the green light. Without this new technology there's no way we could ascertain with certainty exactly what happened so money well spent."

No maintenance, no follow up, no use....whistling.gif

But, if they did it right, it could be usefulsmile.png

Cams, black boxes, and drivers embedded with chips might make a real impact...
