Asulym Seekers in BKK

Featured Replies

The Non Profit I work with received a Cryptic message in an email. They asked me if I thought it was credible. I have copied the email removing any Identifying info. The person has an address in Ban Na and a Thai Mobile number. This seems unlikely to me as anyone entering in this fashion would be sent the IDC in Suan Phluu.

Any comments or knowledge of these types of situation would be appreciated.

Comments: Hi,

I would like to bring your kind attention towards plight of my family

and my siblings.

I am Christian asylum seeker living with my wife and toddler waiting

for prolonging Refugee status determination process here in Bangkok

registered with UNHCR Bangkok Thailand.

Due to fanatic Muslims I have been out of Pakistan since 2009.

Extremists tried to burn our church and I raised voice against them

and my family became victim of their brutality.

Since 2012 I have been registered with UNHCR Bangkok Thailand and

waiting for Refugee status determination year after year situation in

Pakistan has become worst.

Due to political situation in Thailand protection of urban asylum

seekers waiting for refugee status determination has become uncertain.

There has been several christians detained by authorities in urban

Bangkok. Many people lost their lives infants, young or old.

Since March 2014 My brother Shahid along with other families

went from Thailand to Myanmar and then China. But He was detained in

China by Military and was detained ,were interrogated and then after

two months of jail deported back to Myanmar. He went to church to pray

and then the priest there called the authorities and have them

detained again by Myanmar Military.

Horrific ordeal didnt end here for two months unhygienic food,

contaminated and polluted water was given and even children were

drugged in every meal.

At the month end of May they were chained shackled and deported back

to Thai border city. A good samaritan helped them to reach the Thai

soil and helped them to reach Bangkok. But no medical facility was

provided.

Unfortunately on 19 June 2016 my breath while preparing for church

died due to heart attack / Coronary artery disease.

I am humbly requesting your kind authority to support us in protection

and basic human rights. As I am unable to work and Government doesnt

allow us to work.

Hoping to hear from you

The message may be legit. Thailand is reluctant to help refugees, but tends to avoid locking up families with children who are not seen as a threat (though this is not always true). If true, the family has my sympathy. There are many in the same situation.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am not in Thailand now.

Thailand wont help Thai's so anyone else is definitely not going to get any help. When beggars have to get a license I think it says it all

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to the BBC, but assuming I am:

Good article. Thanks for the link

The BBC smuggled a video camera into the detention centre in Bangkok and showed many families with children locked up in terrible conditions and this was on BBC World
