SPAIN -- Barcelona soccer star Lionel Messi and his father have been condemned to 21 months in prison on tax charges, according to newspaper La Vanguardia.

The sentence, which can be appealed in Spains supreme court, is for three tax crimes.

As well as the prison term, Messi has been fined two million euros.

His father was given the same jail sentence and a fine of 1.5 million euros.

Couldnt dribble past the taxman

If Spain is like Italy, then don't read too much into this. This case will still be running a decade after Messi has retired from football.

always the rich, i saw a you tube docu, where a guy walked the streets with money pinned to him, the wealthy took lots of money even a lady with a gucci ? handbag (she had a nail appointment) a homeless guy only took enough to feed him and his dog for one day, he said share it amongst other guys like me.just about sums up society.

Whats he like at taking penalties ! cheesy.gif

How the mighty are falling in all sectors of public life, about time too.
