Three agencies join to develop BIG DATA system for traffic information

BANGKOK, 7 July 2016 (NNT) – Three state agencies have joined hands to better satisfy the government’s digital technology utilization drive.

The Electronic Government Agency (EGA), National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and the Department of Highways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding titled BIG DATA, which will see them archive and share all of the nation’s traffic information in real time using a new application.

EGA will handle cloud storage for the system and needed information technology while NECTEC will develop the system’s software and supplemental applications so that the data can be used by the public.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology Utamma Sawanayon explained that the collaboration is part of the government’s drive to have the nation utilize digital technology on a wider scale and that the project will offer greater convenience to citizens.

They may as well collaborate with the other five agencies that have inked in the agreement to bring overhead utility cables underground (see http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/928649-five-state-agencies-ink-agreement-to-bring-overhead-utility-cables-underground/).

Rather than offering greater convenience for citizen, their digital highway is going to be chaotic for the road users!

It might mean they want to archive all our emails and Google searches in case they want to refer back later & see if we have EVER been bad children.

Probably a nice fat budget to procure new computers.

A high tech digital initiative that is underpinned by men sat in boxes pressing buttons.

Or sometimes not pressing buttons.

Why not use tomtom traffic or google traffic?

Just use google maps and google will tell you all about the traffic. I used to use my garmin GPS now i have a mount for my phone and use google maps because the maps are updated for free and it has traffic information. I used both next to each-other for a while and google was better than the garmin. Though both do make mistakes and you need to learn how to use them.

Also a good phone is useful, as the cheap ones have bad gps chips in them.

would you walk outside in the rain once these ...QUALIFIED electricians" sets this up.?

remember, most appartments DO NOT HAVE A GROUNDING WIRE. Its a very complicated technique of grounding the building ... with conductive material to the ground. The ground... which seems to be under most buildings.

Its complicated. "maiben rai"
