UBON RATCHATHANI, 9 July 2016 (NNT) - The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is raising public awareness about the much anticipated public referendum.

Deputy Director-General of the PRD Charoon Chaisorn opened a seminar in Ubon Ratchathani. The seminar which was attended by more than 100 public relations personnel provided necessary information about the referendum to the participants. These personnel have been tasked with informing people in their respective areas of the upcoming referendum which will take place on August 7th, this year.

People will also be told why it is important for them to exercise their rights and who they should talk to if they have questions concerning the referendum and the draft constitution.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director-General of the PRD Chamlong Singtongam traveled to the northern province of Chiang Mai to inspect the progress of government’s projects. He also met with local authorities and asked them to encourage people to go to the polls next month.

He also asked related agencies to help people understand the content of the draft constitution.

Imagine if they asked how do I vote NO!

I think it is great pity that the UK government did not do this. Then perhaps the country would not have been in the chaotic state it is now.

Although there are 20 million Thais living outside their registered residences, only 230,000 of them – or around one percent – signed up to be eligible for voting - EC

I'd say that the PRD has very low goals for success.

Over the past week, there have been several reports like this. The government is still preparing to promote or educate or whatever. No substantial, actual contact with voters. Less than a month to go.

"Much anticipated public referendum."

indeed. So very much anticipated it seems, that 90% of Thais haven't yet seen a copy, and according to today's newspaper, most Thais don't know how they're going to vote yet.

I sense another massive Thai achievement in the offing.
