Egg prices go up amid rising costs & demand

BANGKOK, 11 July 2016 (NNT) – The Internal Trade Department reports that the price of eggs has been a little higher during this period due to a number of factors.

Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa, Director-General of the Internal Trade Department explained increased demand resulting partly from school commencement, had surpassed the supply.

The chairman of a chicken raising co-op in Ang Thong revealed egg prices had to be adjusted upwards since the scorching weather caused some chickens to die and others to lose their appetite which impaired egg-laying. Chicken feed has also become more expensive.

In Ang Thong, egg prices have been 14-20 percent higher, depending on the size. A pack containing 30 eggs is sold for 100-110 baht instead of 80-95 baht. A size 9 egg costs 3.65 baht, up from 3.61 baht. The Internal Trade Department said the current price rise was minimal.

I see your point but have prices ever dropped? Well, they should have because gas dropped incredibly. The products using eggs don't change it seems especially at those padgrapow and egg restaurants.

Yet this military gov. and all other gov. keep saying there is deflation, therefore zero int. rates.

When will the world wake up that they are being played like a puppet on a string?

By the way, these are the lowest interest rates in over 3,000 years !!!!! That is even before Christ.

So now the cooler weather is here , and the eggs will be shooting out like machine gun bullets , will the prices drop ?

What is a size 9 egg? Size of a marble?

TV can not give an answer. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/611210-egg-size-specifications-in-thailand/

and the Government is no better. http://www.acfs.go.th/standard/download/eng/hen%20egg_ENG.pdf

The government publication suggests sizes are 0-5. No mention of anything more than a size 5.

I very much doubt the dead ones will be laying many more eggs, whatever the weather.....
