NRSA’s sports reform committee makes progress in planned setting-up of national sports universities

BANGKOK, 12 July 2016 (NNT) – A committee under the National Reform Steering Assembly has disclosed progress in its proposed plan to set up national sports universities and a cultural reform mission.

Spokesman of the NRSA committee on the reform of sports, arts, culture, religion, ethics and morality, Charnwit Polcheewin and the committee’s deputy spokesman Borwornwate Rungrujee, joined a news conference on Monday to update the plan to set up national sports universities and introduce a draft law on national sports universities.

Mr. Charnwit said that both initiatives have already won the approval of the joint Cabinet-National Legislative Assembly-NRSA committee and the joint NLA-NRSA committee.

He added that the issues are being included in the agenda of a committee meeting on the reform of public and government administration and the committee on the reform of tourism, culture and sports, which is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Tanasak Patimapragon, before they are presented to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet for consideration and approval.

Mr. Borwornwate added that the committee has asked for an amendment of the laws, to empower state agencies involved in the expropriation of land where archaeological sites and related ruins are located.

NRSA committee on the reform of sports, arts, culture, religion, ethics and morality,

Ye gods! Joe Stalin must be giggling in his grave.

Is there any aspect of the lives of 67 millionThais that this quango doesn't seek to dictate? And can the masses expect more of the same when the era of "Thai-style" democracy finally dawns?
