BANGKOK: -- The cabinet yesterday endorsed a program to promote OTOP (One Tambon, One Product) products under what it called ‘Shop to Help Communities’ campaign where consumers are given the right to present their purchase slips of products for a tax redemptions not exceeding 15,000 baht.

Kobsak Phutrakun, the deputy minister for the Prime Minister’s Office, said the cabinet approved the Commerce Ministry’s “Shop to Help Communities” campaign aimed at attracting people to buy more OTOP products to help communities.

He stated that the main attraction of the campaign for consumers will be the fact that they are entitled to a maximum tax rebate not exceeding15,000 baht for purchasing OTOP products that have been registered, and are guaranteed, by the Ministry of Commerce.

This allocation is only valid to the end of August however which means that communities wishing to put up their products for sale must quickly register in order to be eligible for the campaign.

In doing so they are then permitted to issue sales receipts which is VAT (Value Added Tax) inclusive.

He also revealed that official expectations are that the campaign will generate no less than 30 billion baht in revenues.

Just buy all of them, and give them to poor people

OTOP, a big scam in itself. Over priced products sold to be able to pay all levels of authorities from manufacturer to shelf.
