If I want to extend a Visa Exempt stamp about a week before expiry date that won't be a problem?

Also, my visa exempt expires on the 20th this month, which is a holiday. Am I allowed to go the next day?

You can apply a week or two early.

You can go on 21st but that day is going to be so busy because of being closed for 3 days.

For extending a Visa Exempt in Chiang Mai, do I have to go to the Promenade or to the old immigration office near the airport?

And what about a good time to arrive, is it very busy or not so busy anymore since they now have 2 locations in Chiang Mai?

You would be on overstay, 500 Baht but likely still get the extension.

If he went on the 21st he would not be fined for the overstay since his permit to stay ended when immigration was closed. If he went on the 22nd he would be fined for both days.

I went to Promenada in CM yesterday. There is a new information form to fill out and yet another new format for photos. Copies: 6 Baht, photos: 200 Baht, extension of visa exempt: 1900 Baht. I arrived at 3pm and was out by 3:40. I've been told that the office near the airport doesn't handle extensions any more. Be sure to have your Thai address as that is an area to be scrutinized.

I will need to check. I brought several different sizes, but none were accepted. The background is now blue as well. Not surprisingly, there's a shop next door to immigration that lightened my wallet 200 Baht for 6 photos. We'll see how long these last...

TM7 and other immi forms require 4×6 cm. Nothing new.
