PomRakBKK
Friend of mine got a divorce while being on a extension based on marriage. His extension is valid for another 5 months and his divorce was 2 months ago. From my understanding the day he divorced he had 24 hours to leave the country, correct? He claims the Amphur doesn't report to immigration and he will just fly out without a re-entry permit and come back on a tourist visa. Is he right or does he have to pay an overstay fine? I think he is taking a gamble here. Edited July 14, 2016 by PomRakBKK
ubonjoe
He is correct that an Amphoe does not report divorces to immigration. The only way immigration would know about it would be if he went to immigration and told them to have his extension canceled.

ubonjoe
or his wife told them!!! Not sure immigration would listen to vengeful ex wife. They might tell her to have come into the office to confirm so they could cancel the extension in his passport.
