Need URGENT help - Need a VISA before 1st of August.

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I'm a portuguese guy who is going to study undergraduate computer science at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi for 4 years.

I received my letter of acceptance and called the embassy in Lisbon. Not only were they rude, they apparently "aren't really working" for some days. That's right. I told them I needed to be there before the 1st of August, they said they wouldn't be working untill the 24th of July and told me to show up on the 25th. Additionally, they said the VISA would only be ready for pick up in the 3rd of August.

I was wondering if I can apply for the VISA somewhere else? Missing one week of classes and orientation programs will really <deleted> me up.

Thanks!

There is no other place to get the visa in Portugal. Only in another country could you possibley get one.

Your best option may be to get a 30 day visa exempt entry on arrival here. You may need a ticket out of the country go board your flight here but you could buy a lost cost one way ticket to a nearby country.

Then since you are studying at a university you could apply for a conversion to a 90 day non immigrant visa entry (class ED) at Bangkok immigration within 15 days of entry. If you could not do it within 15 days you could apply for a 30 day extension to meet the 15 days remaining on your permit to stay requirement to do it. If not you could go out for a single entry non-ed visa at a nearby embassy or consulate.
