FIFA ethics court wants 4-year ban for Thai official Makudi

ZURICH (AP) — FIFA ethics prosecutors want former executive committee member Worawi Makudi of Thailand banned for at least four years for election forgery and other misconduct.

The investigations unit of the FIFA ethics committee says it sent a case file to the judging chamber which can impose punishments, and also requested a 25,000 Swiss franc ($25,500) fine.

Charges against Makudi include "forgery and falsification" and refusing to cooperate with an investigation.

Makudi was previously found guilty in a Thai court for forgery in his 2013 re-election to lead the national soccer federation.

Makudi was a member of FIFA's tainted executive committee for 18 years until being voted off by Asian federations in April 2015.

He was a longtime ally of former FIFA presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam.

Must be an old pal of Blatter.

Another upstanding citizen, and role model!

FIFA are probably well aware that his behaviour is not really out of step with the upper echelons of the country as a whole, however there are many corrupt countries where football is played and at least they are trying, belatedly, to put their own house in order. I hope Worawi at least considers this to be a loss of face and that the Thai Government might be shamed into mounting its own investigation and considering criminal charges for his corrupt behaviour which brings the Nation and the sport he is supposed to be an ambassador for, into disrepute.

He definitely needs to commit suicide now !

Loss of face and bringing bad reputation to the country. Cin cin ;)

Keep this kind of actions up and he could be the next PM here.

Self appointed or elected? Not that it makes any difference as we know its the land of just take what you cannot achieve by legal process.

On the contrary, he was a pal of Blatter's opponent.

It is true FIFA has a poor track record of keeping its house in order,, but i am with you, at least now they are trying.

Can't say I am surprised at the behaviour of a Thai who already has a track record of corruption. Being am official at FIFA must have seemed like a banquet of opportunity to him.. giggle.gif

FIFA bah.gif Blow it up and start up a completely new organization. coffee1.gif

No. The country will do what Makudi did, which is totally ignore the ruling. That's what Thais do with anything that makes them uncomfortable. Have you ever proved to a Thai that what they have said or done is wrong? They totally blank you, as if you don't exist.

Maybe Fifa should try to understand he was just doing what comes naturally here as anything goes to get what you want.

The fake smile and the shifty eyes tell the story.
