Non B visa new rules?

Recommended Posts

Hi all not sure if this has been covered yet or not but I will ask anyway. A friend who has been working for a language school for over 12 years went to the immigration office last week to get his yearly extension was told he cannot get 12 months any more only 90 days at a time at a cost of 1900 baht each time. Can anyone confirm this to be true as our local immigration office are famous for being not very helpful towards foreigners. Thanks

It must be a local rule. There have been no changes made to the police order for extensions of stay that states an extension can be done for up to one one year.

Thanks Joe he lives about 60 kms from Pattaya would he be able to go there and get a 12 month extension instead of the one he uses now?

He has to use the assigned office for where he is working. It is not possible to pick and choose offices. What office is he using now?

That is what I thought. Their have been several reports of them being problematic for getting extensions.

mallet36, your friend could call the immigration hotline 1178 and see if they will give the immigration officer in question some guidance regarding the correct procedure.

That does not surprise me, it is well known that immigration offices make up their own rules and are allowed to do so.

You must use an office in the province you reside Pattaya and Sri Racha are in Chonburi

If there are two offices in the province where you live or work the designation is done by district.

Pattaya is only for Pattaya, Banglamung and Sattahip districts. Sri Racha is for the remainder of the province.
