DLT Director-General Sanit Phromwong disclosed that the DLT has organized this year’s second registration period for motorcycle taxis, including both new and existing stations.

He said that from 1 July onwards, a total of 256 new motorcycle stations have been registered to operate in districts within Bangkok.

Existing stations, including to a total number of 23,666 new motorcycles have been registered to operate across all districts in Bangkok, with the highest number recorded in Don Muang district, said the DLT Director-General.

After the registration period, the committee of each district will ask motorcycle taxi operators in their districts to report in and confirm their acceptance of any new motorcycle taxis joining their respective stations. Those approved will be notified by September 30 and will need to conclude their registrations within 120 days, but no later than 31 January 2017.
