Authorities in pursuit of youths suspected of destroying voters’ name list

BANGKOK, 20 July 2016 (NNT) – The government has revealed that responsible officials are working to identify a group of teenagers, who are alleged of tearing a name list of people eligible to vote in the upcoming public referendum on the draft charter.

After a list of eligible voters was put up at a village hall in Kamphaeng Phet province, Government Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the document has reportedly been destroyed by some local youths. Police, military and administrative officials are coordinating on the investigation and the search for the culprits.

The Government Spokesperson added that the Prime Minister has been informed of the matter. The premier has thus encouraged everyone not to become a tool of dissident groups, warning that any law violation would bring about serious punishment. Security units at the district and provincial levels are also assigned to prevent public disturbances from occurring during the lead-up to the referendum.

Regarding the government’s launch of the website www.khonthai.com for voters to verify their eligibility for the referendum, Maj Gen Sansern dismissed rumors that the 13-digit identification number entered into the site would be exploited or used inappropriately. He confirmed the security of the website, noting that the use of ID number is only meant to obtain access to the voters’ database.

Police military and administrative officials are going to hunt down those teenagers like the dogs they are!

They are so spooked even what be a wayward prank by a couple of teens gets this reaction?

Why not bring out the tanks an enforce martial law !

The masses being told not to be a tool, being told by a Tool.

PM to Aide : I want some students arrested for this.

Aide : Sir there;s no actual evidence students were involved.

PM : Did you hear what I said ? No need to confuse the facts with the evidence that will be obtained later.

The NNT is a little slow, not only in general, but with this news item.

As of the 19th July BP is reporting case closed.

The two 8 year old girls who where playing in the area pulled these lists off the board and played with them have been identified.

No charges, below age of criminal resposibility.

Move on, nothing to see here.

Is there an investigation into which mastermind, dark force or unseen hand put them up to it ?

Nothing is ever what it seems.

So not everyone is eligible to vote in the referendum?

So not everyone is eligible to vote in the referendum?

You have to register to be eligible1. Not eligible, not able to vote.

1 An amendment to the Interim Charter in March 2016 defines eligible as one who will have actually voted in the 2016 referendum, further confusing the term. Added link: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/902004-thai-nla-passes-interim-charter-amendment-on-referendum/

So the electoral lists are just left around for anyone to get access to? Really?

The dastardly devil in Dubai, He'll stop at nothing to get his way, even employing ninja like skills of 2 eight year old girls so cleverly pretending to play but in reality they have been "used as tools for dissident groups".

When can we get this menace to society in the gulag. Bugga my ice-cream is to cold, Thaksin again...

What a pack of tool's.

Junta fan boy's hello, hey fella's, c'mon out and play.

Not unique to Thailand.

Walk in to any library in the UK and ask to see the "Electoral Roll".

One will be provided with several folders containing the names of individuals (by street/address) in the area who are registered to vote.

No need to provide ID, authourisation or reason.
