Paperwork demands for old to new passport exchange..

Recommended Posts

  • They don't transfer visas.

When you collect the new passport they should give you a letter that you take to immigration. Immigration will transfer your permission to stay stamp to the new passport.

Most embassies will routinely write the letter.

Others do it on request.

Some charge extra, with some it's included in the price for new passport.

Some immigrations ask for it, some don't seem to care.

The usual "flexibilty" whistling.gif

What nationality are you?

Which is your immigration office?

With the information one might get/find a first hand report.

Last year I got my replacement GB passport but no supporting letter. When I went to immigration in Nan they woman did ask for a letter but luckily I had everything in the envelope from the UK and showed her it. Obviously I have not faked my passport and so she did the extension exchange but she made sure that one full page was completely used...............damn I wish I had ordered the 48 page passport.

Presumably you have an extension of stay based on retirement, not a visa.

Use this form. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/files/file/20-transfer-stamp-to-a-new-passport-form/

You should make photocopies of old passport ID page and current stamps as well as visa you originally used to enter the country before you got the extension and the new passport ID page. You'll probably need the embassy letter.

They don't transfer visas, but will put current extension stamp, re-entry permit and note the original visa info.

Remember to give new passport information to your bank as well.
