eljeque
Which hotel can I stay in and can anyone recommend an agent for the 60-day Tourist Visa???
lopburi3
You might want to give people a clue as to what price range you are interested in as Georgetown, Penang is a major city with hotels in all price ranges. Most wanting good basic business class hotel have been happy with Continental Hotel on Penang Street. Hotel staff can obtain visa or you are within a short walk of the major back pack street where there are a number of agents available.
Rajah
Cathay Hotel Basic rooms, reasonable prices. And near this back pack street. But I haven't been to Penang for a long, long time...
astral
I expect these hotels will see rise in occupancy over the next few months, so you may need to book in advance. PS the road in question is Chulia Street.
eljeque
MOre info: A cheap hotel for two nights which has a Runner to take care of visa for me. I should have been more specific in the first post.
astral
The Continental Hotel is around MYR90 (900 baht) a night, but there are several other cheaper hotels along Chulia St. The Swiss Hotel comes to mind, but I have no idea of the quality or lack of it. Cheap hotels go from MYR30 (300 baht) upwards. December is the beginning of the season in Penang and we can also expect an influx of visa runners in January as the 90day rule starts to cut in. tropo
Which hotel can I stay in and can anyone recommend an agent for the 60-day Tourist Visa??? Here you are: I emailed him and I've included his reply to me here. [email protected] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From : NJ BOOKSCENTRE <[email protected]> Sent : Tuesday, 17 October 2006 10:25:38 AM To : tropo Subject : RE: Tourist visa question hai sir now the visa tourist can get no problem you have how many time visa with one months that is no problem you come to penang we will get the visa and you need more detail please call 00760164538867 mr ali thank you --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding hotels: Last time I was there I stayed at the Hotel Mayalsia. It was busy (August) and rooms were 1100 baht per night. If you are planing a trip for January, my guess is that it might be impossible to find accommodation unless you book soon. Even without the added influx of visa runners, January would be a busy month.
eljeque
Once again, I thank everyone for their information. This has certainly simplified a trip that I have not taken since 1993.
