BANGKOK, 25 July 2016, (NNT) - Prime Ministe General Prayut Chan-o-cha and Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai have offered condolences to their German counterparts over the recent shootings.

In a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, General Prayut said he had learned with profound sadness the loss of lives and injuries caused by the cowardly acts at the Olympia-Einkaufzentrum and the Wurzburg station in the past few days.

He added that his thoughts and prayer are with the people of the Federal Republic of Germany during this very difficult period.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai also sent a similar letter to his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, expressing his sorrow over the incident.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin indicated that no Thai citizens were harmed in the incident while urging Thais to avoid public places and closely monitor the news from official agencies.

Meanwhile in Thailand, the Metropolitan Police Bureau has stepped up security measures at the German Embassy in Bangkok.
