BANGKOK: -- A taxi driver wanted for a 1999 murder was finally arrested yesterday - but he denied everything saying he had nothing to do with it.

Nonthaburi police made the arrest of Nakorn Pathom man Sirichai Danlapcharoen, 62, outside the Sarin Palace condominium in Charansanitwong Soi 13, Bangkok, reported Thairath.

He had been wanted on a warrant following the shooting murder of Sommai Nilawong in Nonthaburi on August 30th 1999.

Sirichai said that on the day of the murder he had driven two people who he knew only as Sin and Phon to where it took place. They had said they were going to collect some money. He said he had no knowledge of the murder.

He added that he had been carrying on the life of a normal taxi driver ever since.

Any chance these cold case detectives could be assigned to finding the Red Bull heir...

Put him in a cell with couple of hard ass ladyboys and he'll confess to anything, even murdering Jimmy Hoffa.....

Living the life of a normal taxi driver ?

So many opportunities for comment there.

''Sirichai said that on the day of the murder he had driven two people who he knew only as Sin and Phon to where it took place. They had said they were going to collect some money. He said he had no knowledge of the murder.''

That's a lot of detail to remember 17 years on...

On this day 17 years ago I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing, I was, I was,,,eehm Pass Magnus.

...all these years withholding information...that should make him an accomplice at least....

Do they really expect him to put his hands up and say "fair cop Guv" !!

An exemplary driver that was not stopped for traffic violations during 17 years, however apparently did not renew his drivers' license or ID card.

That's actually not a great deal of detail, 2 people who's names he knew and something that they said.

I haven't been stopped in 22 years either, not a difficult feat to achieve.

I think you'll find that renewing a driving licence or ID card does not involve checking for arrest warrants.

What about enforcing the law RIGHT NOW!? coffee1.gif

Wow,the guy still remembers their names even told him why they are going wherever they were???? nothing to do with me mate as them!!?

He had a good memory who he dropped of on that day 17 years ago.

17 years on? Yeah, right.

I have no idea who I was with on any day 17 years ago, never mind what they said.

The fact he remembers that much detail alone is suspicious

Next question should be what color shirts were they wearing?

So it took 17 years to find him despite the fact he wasn't hiding?

They seem to find a diver whose bad behaviour ends up on Facebook pretty quickly to give him his 1000 baht fine.
