BANGKOK, 26 July 2016 (NNT) – The government is aiming to expand the Start Up Thailand & Digital Thailand event to various regions in the Kingdom from August to September this year, after it was successful held in Bangkok.

Science and Technology Minister Pichet Durongkaveroj, held a press conference along with Information and Communications Technology Minister Uttama Savanayana and delegates from private companies. He announced the expansion of the Startup Thailand & Digital Thailand event to other provinces of Thailand, in light of its recent success in Bangkok.

Additional events will be held in Chiang Mai province from August 5th-7th, in Khon Kaen province from August 26th-28th, and in Phuket province from September 16th-18th. The theme of each event will incorporate the unique potential of each region.

Dr. Pichet said the government is promoting innovations that can elevate Thailand beyond the status of developing country and reduce inequalities. To this end, the goverment is providing support to start-up businesses in all regards.

Uttama added that recent technological advancements have led to new methods of applying or developing innovations. The government is therefore responsible for formulating clear policies to support the private sector and the general public.

They need to start with the government itself. They still use primarily paper. I still have to make copies for a 90 day report! Unbelievable....stacks of paper everywhere, and people writing by hand in big ledgers. Come on, get with the program

Digital Thailand won't be put to good use until the upcoming generation show an interest in using their devices to learn as opposed to Facebook and Pokémonblink.png
