PM Prayut spurns Democrat party’s standpoint on draft charter

I know it is not a true Democracy, but it is better then having people camping on Sukhumvit road. Sorry for the people; but better for business.

And now that all countries recognize the military government; i don't care if they stay in power forever. So let the PM and the military continue

to rule the country. It is better for business.

If the people did not want the coup, two years ago. They could have stopped it; same as the people in turkey. But half the country

were unhappy with the old government. Every three years it is the same thing. camp out and protest on the streets. Force a government

change; then do it again three years later !

Good job Prime Minister; keep business working.

I heard there was a shortage of bullet proof jackets! :)

Not to mention anyone in possession of one would be arrested for having "weapons of war".

Some good "opinions" in the BP today.

The PM is a hoot, telling everyone not to be swayed by politicians....now correct me if I'm from, isn't HE himself classed as a politician?

"He warned that, in the future, there might be no one to volunteer for drafting a new charter, if the charter drafters are not properly treated."..... cue ominous music duh duh duh.....duh. reminds me of the classic British comedy... Yes Mr prime minister

Why not appeal to the UN to send in some impartial drafters for the next one. Take a hands off approach. I am sure the last charter draft had his initials on every page. I think he has threatened that any future drafts would be in the same vein so open up and swallow this on.

It would seem the Junta does not care if it pases. They "win" either way. If it passes they have a permanent hold on the electorate via the charter mechanism. No need for future coups - they are already in control. If it fails, he stays in power and control.

Sad that the Thai people had to watch two coups that seriously wasted their time and ruined the countries reputation.

The huge voting block in the east and north will probably not like the new charter. Now the yellow shirts are objecting. What's left to support the good general ?

Certain laws prevent your question from being accurately answered.

I think we can legally say that the head of the Thai army supports the general, he hasnt been arrested for treason yet anyway so it should be a safe assumption to make

Asked what the new charter will look like if the draft fails the referendum, the prime minister said he might put together all the good points of all previous charter as the basis for the new charter.

notice how that is so similar to Ahisit's statement in his fake "criticism of the charter?

Abhisit further said that, if the draft fails in the referendum, he would like Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha to take the lead in the drafting of a new charter

orchestrated "dissent".... coffee1.gif

Interesting that Abhisit Leader of the democrat Party a Party put in power by a Military coup. Who lost power to a Populist Party which in turn was deposed by a Military Coup. Rejects a proposed Charter but asks the Coup Leader to rewrite a new Charter. Reminds me of an episode of the US sitcom Soap!!!!

pleaded for sympathy for the drafters of the charter whom, he said, had been ridiculed and discredited

Argued from a position of weakness in a plaintive voice.

They were already weak and ridiculous having served up unacceptable charters before, none of which lasted very long. The person who is responsible for their incompetence being exposed is the person who asked them to write the charter in the first place knowing their track record.

A group of out-of-touch old men are not going to be able to embrace and foster the dreams and aspirations of a nation.
