Police commander says authorities ready to secure referendum

BANGKOK, 28 July 2016 (NNT) - The commander of the Royal Thai Police has affirmed security measures are now in place for the constitutional referendum.

Royal Thai Police Commander Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has ordered authoriites to stringently implement security measures in their jurisidictions in preparation for the public referendum on the draft charter coming up on August 7. He noted however that intelligence gathering has not uncovered any signs of interlopers preparing to disturb the vote.

The commander also stated authorities are ready to expand their investigation into Chiang Mai based constitution distorters but held back on letting on if more arrests would take place. He remarked he is not concerned about political parties voicing opposition to the draft charter as he still believes they want to see the referendum take place in peace and orderliness.

A shame they weren't in place last time there was an election, to remove those who did everything they could to block people from voting.

Might not be in the situation we are today if they had done their job properly before.
