BANGKOK:-- Thailand's so called jet setting monk "Nen Kham" has been denied bail in the US.

A court ruled on Friday that there is a significant chance of him fleeing justice so he remains behind bars.

Now there is talk that there may be a prisoner exchange in the air.

Wirapol Sukphol - formerly known as Luang Por Nen Kham Chattiko - was pictured tucking in to a hearty seafood lunch some time before his arrest this week.

In the past he has been photographed in sunglasses and robes on private jets.

He is wanted in Thailand on fraud and child sex charges.

Thailand's DSI force are preparing applications to present to the US courts seeking his extradition. The process could be long with appeals expected if the courts decide to extradite.

Reporters in Thailand understand that behind the scenes US authorities are keen to get their hands on a Russian fugitive possibly hiding out in the kingdom who they want to prosecute in the US. They have surmised that a secret deal could be arranged for a swap.

Bail was denied to Wirapol principally because he is believed to have fled charges in the past and could do so again. There has been a three year fight by the Thai authorities to bring him to justice.

Didn't know about the child sex charges.

Yet another black eye for devoted monks and Buddhists so some how sometime the council must change the rules and at least try and get rid of these parasites that not only deal in drugs money and sex but child sex as well.

Spotlight comes to mind.

He'll likely only be extradited if Thailand presents a compelling enough case to the US Courts so can they, will they ?

Saying to the public and media here they do doesn't necessarily mean it's true and there may well be good reasons, such as who he was involved with, to keep him away.

Unlike the police in Thailand that see nothing wrong with bailing out convicted criminals and murders

among them, in the State, it's a bit different, there they know a flight risk when they see one, unfortunately

for this vile, revolting 'monk '..........

Still dressed as a monk, still living the lie.

What a bloody hypocrite.

Conman/liar/ cheat/ paedofile.

Yet according to my wife, following Thai reports about him, lots of people in the US are giving him money.

Does anyone have any detail re: his situation in the U.S.? Where was he arrested? Charges?

The child abduction/rape charges might be enough to warrant extradition? But the religious aspect might make it a lengthy process?

Interesting Thailand is so anxious to get him back. Surely there are political opponents which are more highly desired?

So come back and be released on bail here? I'm sure this guy has dirt.

I'm sure the US will need assurances he won't be freed once he arrives in Thailnd.

Nobody seems to bother about the fact how he became a VIP monk in the first place?

If you can find one that doesn't pretend to know everything about everything you can probably find his millions..

I'm leaning towards Louisiana, based on the crawfish factor.

. I guess he may as well tuck in now, I think his diet and love life will be changing somewhat if he ends up in the Big Tiger.

Dog sh1t of the trailer trash.

Sorry but you 2 have lost me.We are discussing a Monk that is in hiding(was) in USA.Now we are faced with a great film artist and top dancer with part of one of his great film epics labelled as a------" dog shit trailer" ???????????? Completely unwarranted and inappropriate.

The sangha council is PART of the problem, as they too are corrupt.

It's obviously escaped you but this monk has not been convicted of anything.

No one is pretending, he is being investigated and extradited, the dollars he had do not need to be mentioned everytime his name pops up.
