BANGKOK: A former election candidate of the defunct Chart Thai Party was shot dead by a lone gunman while he was visiting a temple in Klong San district of Bangkok last night.

Somdet Chao Phraya station police chief Pol Col Anurak Yosprasit said the former election candidate Veera Rodpitak, 54, parked his black Mercedes Benz E200 bearing 3 Gor Thor 3232 Bangkok licence plate at the open car park near the fence wall of Wat Thong Plaeng off Soi Charoen Nakhon 14 last night.

While he was leaving the car, a lone gunman who had laid in wait approached him from the rear and fired two shots at the back of his head at close range.

One shot hit the rear of the right ear and another right on the back of the neck.

He fell to the ground near his car and died on the spot.

He said a check on video camera in the vicinity showed a man in black T-shirt and blue jean running past the camera to the front of the temple where a white Honda Jazz was seen to pick him up and sped off.

Mr Veera was a former candidate running for election in Bangkok’s Constituency 12 comprising Bang Plad, Bangkok Noi, Taling Chan, and Thawiwattana districts.

If there are no monks involved the usual "bashers" aren't interested.

Why should anyone be interested as it seems you aren't either.
