Our family of six (four kids ages ten and under) plan to visit Thailand from January through March 2017. We are from the United States. Does it make sense to get 60-day tourist visas with plans to extend them for another 30 days? Can we count on getting an extension enough to purchase airplane tickets now? Do our children need visas or just the adults? Thanks for your help!

All of you should get single entry tourist visa for your trip. Children are not exempt from needing visas.

It will not be a problem to get the 30 day extensions. They are done on a routine basis.
