I have a Retirement Visa and a Multi Entry Permit....finally took the time and effort to get this.

Now the problem, my life has changed a little as I now need to go to the States for a couple of

months to take care of my mother and will not be able to be in Thailand on the 90 day

reporting date. The reporting date is February 5 and I will leave January 1 and not return

until March 1. Any ideas ?

No problem, the 90-days period starts anew upon arrival. No need to report as long as you are outside of the country.

You report to the immigration office with between 30 and 15 days remaining and provide them proof of income (embassy letter and your paperwork) (if using income/pension).

Bank letter of your account balance within 7 days (which agrees with passbook) (new requirement is 3 months of 800k in account prior to application but up to now it has not been enforced for people in the system as most don't know about it yet).

Passbook/copies.

Passport/copies and TM.6 (arrival card) and copy.

Filled out TM.7 extension request with 4x6cm photo (current within 6 months) attached and 1,900 baht fee.

If you plan travel after you get the new stamp it is a good idea to obtain a re entry permit.

If process is done outside of Bangkok two copies each (signed) will likely be required.

Make sure you are back before your visa expires or you have to start all over again.

Doesn't matter what the validity of the visa is, what is important is what the permission to stay entry stamp says. My visa expired 2 years ago, but I have received 2 extension to stay since it expired and therefore I am legal

With people like this it is very important to get the terminology correct. If indeed he has a 1 year extension based on retirement, did he get a [multi] re-entry permit when he obtained it? If not, he can get one at immigration or the airport before he leaves.

The 90 report is for address. If you leave on an extension with re-entry permit, coming back into the country resets the clock on the 90 address report. If you have an extension to stay and no re-entry permit you extension is no longer valid.

So much confusion here due to posters not understanding the definition of the immigration terminology.
