Embassy letter for Retirement Visa

Pardon my ignorance, but I am currently applying for my first Retirement Visa having just turned 50.

I obtained a list of required documents from Immigration and as I have a monthly income from my home

country in excess of 65000baht they require a letter from my Embassy confirming this.

No mention is made of me having to translate the letter into Thai or having the Embassy signatures validated

at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chang Wattana.

I asked at Immigration and they didn't seem to know themselves.

So, I am OK just to present the Official Embassy letter to Immigration or do I need to go through the nightmare at the

Ministry of Foreign affairs?

Any advice/feedback would be appreciated.

If the income letter is in English there is no requirement to have it translated. Their is also no requirement to have the consular officers signature verified either.

One office has been reported as asking for a translation and 2 or 3 the signature verification.

Which office will you be using.

In addition which nationality are you?

f you are a U.S. citizen, you can get a income statement showing your income.

You will need to make an appointment firdt with the embessy.

obviously, you will need your passport as I.D.

This is not a free service, there is a fee for the consular signature.

I have forgotten exactly what the cost is, but the info will be on the U.S. embessy web page.

It all starts however, with making an appointment on-line.

Some times that can be a bit of the "pain in your a- -" type thing

Those old days of the friendly U.S. embessy where any U.S. citizen could just "walk in" are long gone now.

Not complaining you understand, I know the reasons, just commenting on how it "used to be" back when.
