A while back there was a lot of conversation about having to stay out of Thailand when doing a visa run as they wouldn't allow in and out on the same day. Has that been resolved, and is it possible to go out and back same day now? I'd rather spend my money in Thailand, than paying too much in expensive Malaysia. I'd rather take the train to Malaysian border and cross, walk back to Thai entry point. Go to Krabi from Hat Yai. However, I don't want hassle of being refused entry because didn't stay overnight in Malaya.

Most border points will allow out/in visa exempt entry as long as you don't have too many previous entries.

As long as you do stamp in to Malaysia...., before you return to Thailand.
