Ministry warns of fake Facebook page scam

Featured Replies

The Ministry of Education on Saturday warned students and their parents about a fake ministry Facebook page that was looking to scam people by offering to sell documents for the upcoming grade 12 national exam.

The ministry in a news release said the fake page was using the ministry’s Facebook profile and cover photo. The page included contact numbers for those interested in buying the materials, although it didn’t specify what kind of test documents they were.

Ministry spokesman Ros Salin said officials were monitoring the case and were cooperating with police to identify those behind the page. “Legal action will be taken if the owner is found,” he added.
