Pakistani passenger jailed after Dubai-Bangkok assault

A Pakistani man accused of sexually assaulting a Thai woman on a flight from Dubai to Bangkok has been jailed for three years, fined 120,000 baht and permanently barred from returning to Thailand, according to the victim.

The woman announced the reported outcome in a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 5, two days after the alleged assault took place while she was travelling with her four-year-old daughter.

She posted a photograph of the man with police officers and wrote: "If you commit a crime, you have to face the consequences. Three years in prison, a 120,000 baht fine and blacklisted from entering Thailand ever again.

"Thank you to the inspector and Tourist Police for all your help. Don't ever do this to anyone again."

Alleged assault took place during flight

The case began on August 3 aboard the Dubai-Bangkok service, when the woman said she had fallen asleep during the journey.

She alleged that she woke after feeling somebody touching her buttock and noticed wetness beneath her blanket. She later said she found the Pakistani passenger staring at her.

After the aircraft landed in Bangkok, cabin crew escorted the man away for questioning. An airline employee reportedly noticed what appeared to be semen stains on the woman's trousers.

The woman said the man apologised, but she refused to accept it and asked police to arrest him.

Tourist Police and immigration involved

Tourist Police, the Immigration Bureau and Don Mueang Police Station subsequently opened an investigation, before the woman shared the reported sentence and immigration ban on August 5.

Her Facebook post drew widespread support, with users leaving messages saying they were pleased that she had received justice.

Victim shaming, bravo. And what "drug" was it since you know so much? Fentanyl? There's nothing wrong with taking a sleep aid such as melatonin or ambien. No different from having a cocktail. One does

  • jailed for three years, fined 120,000 baht ?? This cannot be serious. So he groped the leg of a sleeping woman and came on it. Of all the crimes that can happen , this is barely a crime. There is no

Certainly hope he doesn’t enjoy his extended stay here.

Something that totally escaped Cameroni who was white knighting for him and his actions. Repulsive. Remnants still remain.

Yes, normally someone would be remanded into custody and then a many months long saga would unfold before the courts.

Maybe he plead guilty and was sentenced on the first appearance ? Sounds unlikely but who knows.

If it was a rape then why only 3 years?

He did confess, so most likely he pleaded guilty, and therefore 3 years, which would be like half sentence of rape.

Best get a pair of knee pads !!

Has it actually been confirmed that he has been jailed or is the announcement on Facebook her 'wish list' for the punishment?

I thought he was refused entry to Thailand. If so, has he still been jailed in Thailand? The fine mentioned is in THB so I assume it is indeed in Thailand.

Otherwise, I assume he would have been returned to Dubai. Seems a very quick process if he has been imprisoned already.

It must be true because a Thai would never lie.

It's against their Buddhist religion.

He can enjoy jerking off onto men in a crowded room.

I'm amazed she slept through that while he was feeling her bum, Hopefully he gets a good kicking in the jail,

That was done and dealt with amazingly quick in the courts must have dragged him by the scruff of the neck into court,

Despite being in charge of a 4 year old child alone, she drugged herself.

There's another topic in the forum about what happened. It wasn't rape.

Guilty plea and likely plea bargain. He confessed, and the evidence was, er, obvious

One doesn't expect violent crime and mayhem while in an airplane seat. We have trustworthy flight attendants for any real emergency.

exactly, that's what he could face like she said on her facebook post but it does not mean he has already been sentenced by a judge in a court after just 48 hours like you write.

Indeed. But that is not what the headline or opening paragraph of this report says, so I wondered if there was more to it than her Facebook speculation.

One only hopes that you're never left alone with a child. 🙂

If the incident just happened Aug. 3rd, how has he already been tried, convicted, and sentenced to three years, as the victim states in the article? Even if he entered a guilty plea, would it all happen that fast?

Hard to believe he couldn't hold it until the reached BKK and he could hire someone to take care of it for him.

nauseating. However, i think the article is a tad misguided about the sentence. As mentioned in other comments here, 48h is not gonna cut it to deliver a sentence. Most probably stating what he incurs in such case. Currently, Thailand is actually accelerating procedures to kick out foreign perpetrators out of the country (barred for x years or for ever) rather than keeping them, which is a real hassle.

That, although disgusting, isn't rape it is sexual assault as no non-consensual sexual penetration.

Yes. It sounds like justice was done, but even if he pleaded guilty, two days is record breaking speed.
