Jai Dee
Office of Agricultural Economics expects more cassava production in 2006-07 The Office of Agricultural Economics Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Phinij Kosriporn (พินิจ กอศรีพร), disclosed that the production of cassava production for 2006-07 will be around 25.29 million tons. Meanwhile, the domestic and foreign demands for cassava will be about 23.24 million tons. The figures show the similarity of demand and supply. The government is implementing the project to intervene with in the prices of cassava for 2006-07. The prices for pawning cassava will increase step by step. The price in November is 1.25 baht per kilogram, in December 1.30 baht and in January 1.35 baht. The prices for pawning will likely persuade cassava farmers to harvest their crops, and help reduce the surplus of cassava between January and March. Cassava agriculturists will also receive hefty earnings. Source: Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department - 21 November 2006

Source: Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department - 21 November 2006 I wonder what that means? It seems to me that selling early might get more per kilo, but for a smaller crop. Most farmers can't plant anything between now and April anyway. Regards
