Re-entry from Vietnam

Featured Replies

Hey,
Wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

I'm flying into Bangkok on the 8th of September and staying until the 13th of October. I'm looking to book a trip to Vietnam on the 26th of Sept to break up these dates otherwise that would be 36 days. We fancy flying to Vietnam for a one night stay on the 26th. Is that too short to be away and come back for another 30 days? Is that normal or are you expected to stay out for over a week?

We'll have all our flight tickets and stuff so I was thinking when I arrive I just show the ticket out to Vietnam on the 26th Sept and then the second entry I show the ticket out on 13th Oct.
Also just to make it more complicated on the 13th Oct I'm off to other asian countries for a bit and then arrive back to Bangkok on the 22nd of Oct as my return home flight is from there on the 23rd. Will this be ok? My first time in Asia and although I'm meeting friends in cities I'm a 20 year old girl travelling solo so smooth as possible border stuff would be lovely.

So basically I'm there ...

8th September - 26th September
27th September - 13th October
22nd October - 23rd October

which is like 38(?) days

Can I do this with no visa?

Hope that made sense!
Thank you!

With no prior visits to Thailand, your plans are definitely fine.

Unless you really want to go to Vietnam for 1 night you could get a 30 day extension of stay from immigration instead (1,900 baht). That would cover you until you leave on the 13th. You should have no problem getting a second visa exempt entry when returning on the 22nd.

But if you want to stick to your plan, and have onward flights booked, you should have no problem getting three visa exempt entries based on that itinerary.

It was about 18 months ago but i did a BKK / KUL / BKK turn around on the same day on Visa exempt and there were no questions asked. It was also my 3rd Visa exempt in a row.

As stated above there is no need to go to Vietnam as you can get a 30 day extension.

That said you may not be allowed to board your flight to Thailand without proof of

onward travel in the 30 day visa exempt on arrival timeframe. The best would be to

get a SETV (single entry tourist visa) in your home country before leaving. Especially

if you do not qualify for a tourist visa on arrival in Vietnam. If you do however then

a short side trip to HCMC is both economical and interesting. Stay a few days not

just overnight. Saigon is cheap and there are many things to do. I have just made my

second trip there in the past 3 months. I quite enjoyed Vietnam and I will be heading back.
