Cops in Bangkok to undergo "traffic awareness" project - controlling traffic "both science and art", says top cop

This is an utter and complete waste of time. The average Thai person is of the understanding that laws are there solely to be broken. They don't give a toss about the police, the police hold no fear for them because one lame excuse and a few hundred baht later, they are back on the road doing the same thing over again.if they can get away with rape robbery and an occasional murder, what price traffic violations?

Forget about any traffic control or taking notice of any such laws, because they are seriously and  honestly of the opinion that these laws are made for others and do not apply to them.

Well, the Red Bull kid is!.

Strangely enough large cities in the West have computer controlled lights. I guess the program must be a work of art then.

It's even better than that, in the West they have systems with sensors to control the lights. They are smart systems who can change the waitingtime for each direction.

'Police in Bangkok - especially those that operate the lights - are to take part in a traffic awareness project to help them be more proactive ... ... The reality is that ... you cannot be doing it just watching a screen or  reading the newspaper.' Those are the proactive ones. The rest sleep through the shift. But the obvious question - obvious if you are not a member of the RTP, that is - is why not get on and actually fully computerise the system? Of course, there would then need to be another kind of awareness project ...
