Bread storage

Featured Replies

Where do you keep your home made bread.

For now mines in the fridge to stop the insects getting to it. However after a day it starts to get dry.

Any recommendations out there for bread storage

Bread in the fridge will get dry.  A couple of seconds in the microwave (seconds not minutes) will make the slice soft.  Bread sliced and kept in the freezer can be put in the toaster and itt may take two goes but the toast is beautiful.

Mine keeps several days in the fridge, wrapped in a plastic bag. I always eat it long before it goes dry!

When I bake a loaf of home made bread I let it go cold before slicing it and put each slice into a separate bag before freezing them, then take out as many as I need at a time to thaw out about an hour before I need them.

I agree with letting the loaf cool before slicing. This is essential but home-baked bread does not last long enough in my house to ever reach the freezer!

Do the insects actually get into a tightly sealed ziploc bag?

Is it the really small ants?

Luckily for me I am the only one in the house that eats it.

I make it in a big pyrex dish and one this size cuts into 12 or 13 slices and lasts about 7 to 10 days.
