Correct Forum for Social Security Issues

I need info to set up a Bangkok Bank account for direct deposit for my US Social Security.  Do I make inquiries here or on another forum?

US social security, will not send S/S payments to Thailand

I believe they will send them to the Bangkok Bank in New York,if you have an account with them at the New York branch

most expats have US banks accounts, then wire money from them to here

No problem go to any large Bank of Bangkok and set up a Social Security Direct Deposit account.  The bank will know what you are talking about and ignore the TV trolls above.  Don't go to a small branch bank as they might not know what you are talking about.  Bangkok Bank is the only bank you can use for direct deposit of SS.

You need to set up a direct deposit account at Bangkok Bank. Then your SS payments will be sent directly to their branch in New York.

Info is here on this page of their website by clicking on."Advice to Bangkok Bank customers receiving payments from US government agencies or private organizations (Direct Deposit)"

Just to be clear.  You don't set up an account with the Bank of Bangkok in New York.  You (the SS recipient) set up a direct deposit account with a Bank of Bangkok in Thailand.  The link that ubonjoe listed explains why it is cheaper than most other transfer methods.
