How Do I Get A Work Permit?

Featured Replies

Hi I am about to start an online property agency with my thai wife

I want to obtain a work permit so that I can deal with clients on the phone and in person  aswell as updating the website etc.

Do I need to register it as a company 1st or at all?

I am currently on a one year extension to my non-o married visa. how does obtaining a work permit affect current visas?

Is it possible just to run the site without registering it and my wife dealing with all the clients on the phone and face to face while i control the website part of it?

All new to me even though I have been here for 15 months.Although I hear that the govt are very strict on these matters.

Also any cost & timescale info would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

In order to get a work permit you need to be working for a company or partnership.

You could form a partnership with your wife and register it with 1 million baht of capital.

You would need 4 Thai employees (2 at some offices).

Getting a work permit would not effect your extension of stay based upon marriage. If you made enough money you could use it to prove 40k baht income to apply for it.

She should register the business as a sole proprietor. You could get a work permit for it also but not all work permit offices will no do it. The current rules on it being done are not available.

If you have a business you need a company, VAT id , .......

Loads of Thais doing small business don't have the proper papers and don't have a problem (yet). If the police asks for the papers and you don't have them you are risking that you have to pay fines.
