DPM Wissanu: No need to be excited about talk of general elections on Dec 10

BANGKOK, 19 August 2016 (NNT) - A deputy prime minister has come out to calm talk about a tentative election date of December 10, saying the government has not planned it that far yet.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissnau Krea-ngam on Thursday said that an earlier comment by Election Commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn about the general election, saying it may take place on December 10 should not be any cause for excitement just yet.

Mr. Wissanu said that Mr. Somchai’s comment was merely his personal opinion because it remains too early to set any date.

He added that Mr. Somchai might be setting a target for the EC to work towards as he is fully aware that there are several steps that must be taken and not everything is under any one individual's control.

The DPM went on to say that the government is not looking that far into the future yet.

Shouldn't it read that he said no need to get excited about general elections FULL STOP or PERIOD for our Americans friends.

A couple of day ago there was a story about some plan going to 2020 but suddenly Dec is too far in the future.

"The DPM went on to say that the government is not looking that far into the future yet."

December 10. Four months away...............that far into the future? Tomorrow never comes around this place. Always today.

"The DPM went on to say that the government is not looking that far into the future yet."

So what is the 20 year roadmap about?

Excitement can take many forms and I can think of a number of pleasurable things that can stir such excitement but the nomination by the Thai military of a date for a democratic election is not one of them.

Actually, the 'planned' date was 10 December next year ie 2017, but don't be surprised if it always keeps advancing.

Yeah, because they're never gonna happen, AIGHT????......

Wow what an expert I am,...... :clap2:

Mr Somchai not able to explain for himself what he meant?

Or, is he too busy having what he meant explained to him to comment?

Yes and it was November 2017 a few days ago

Yu'p elections in who knows when but with the added excitement of a new constitution that the people actually have had involvement and input and debate.     I'm excited.....:w00t:   ok ok I was just thinking out loud, my bad..

Another highlight of NNT.

"Dec 10" without mentioning 2017!

December 10, 2017 qualifies.

It's a Sunday AND constitution day.

Now that they have the "people's constitution". :D

So what is the 20 year roadmap about?

It means with a rigged parliament in place ,   they will pull the strings , not who the people elect, until they get unceremoniously dumped  in another student spring  uprising, till then , that's where they will stay.

Who is getting Excited about electing a rigged parliament , just how many bribes will take place under the table ,  when selection starts for a leader and 250 Senators, selected by their peers, the transparency is so transparent you can see right through it.......................................:coffee1:

I suppose we should all hope this target is better than his 80+% turnout target, otherwise we could be looking at any time between now and December 2030. I won't wait for him to feel embarrassed though, Thais don't do embarrassed.

I really expected Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu to understand that NCPO Chief Prayut is in complete control.

I'm sure DPM Prawit will agree to that.

Maybe it's retirement time for Wissanu.

Dec 10 2017

"...The DPM went on to say that the government is not looking that far into the future yet..."

Yet, they have no problems committing the country to more high-risk "mega projects" that will extend well beyond December 2017, and leave it with a financial burden country for many more years after that!

Incredulous ineptitude, bordering on insanity.
