Two Suspects Arrested in Beating Death

Featured Replies

Two men were arrested on Wednesday night in Tbong Khmum province’s Tbong Khmum district over the death of a man who was allegedly beaten for insulting one of the men’s wives during a drinking session. Tbong Khmum district penal police chief Mung Raya said yesterday the victim and one suspect had been drinking rice wine from Wednesday morning until the afternoon when at about 4pm they were joined by two more men.

After running out of alcohol, one suspect left to buy more rice wine and returned to find the victim threatening to stab his drinking partner with a knife, the police chief added. “The man who just came back from buying wine took a wooden stick and hit the victim’s head and face because he was using a knife and attempting to stab the other man. He hit him until he died at the scene,” he said.

Mr. Raya said police went to the scene immediately when someone reported the murder and arrested two men, but the man who killed the victim escaped. The victim was identified as Nom Limhong, 39, while the men arrested were Ly Yasyasakam, 26, and Nou Sophat, 31, and the man who fled was Ny Vandith, 26.
