The National Disaster Warning Centre today warned residents in 10 northern provinces of flashfloods and landslides due to expected heavy rains today until tomorrow.

The 10 provinces warned are Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, and Tak.

It said flashfloods and landslides are expected as heavy rains will begin hitting theses areas beginning today.

Meanwhile strong current in the Wang river swept away the middle span of a concrete bridge crossing the river yesterday.

The bridge is at Village 7 in Tambon Wang Sai of Wang Nua district, Lampang province.

Fortunately no vehicle was using the bridge as the middle span broke and fell into the strong current.

The Wang Nua Rescue Association posted a video footage at the moment the middle span collapsed under the strong Wang river.

It also warned residents living along the bank to evacuate to higher grounds as the river is expected to overflow banks as more rains are expected.

Latest weather map. The storm is breaking up in Myanmar and drifting south a bit.

Storm 418 - Copy.jpg

Wish it WOULD rain - more. Chiang Mai we got 1 cm of the stuff last night, otherwise just a few drizzles this week. Meanwhile some places like Nan. Phayao, Pai, etc. got a deluge, so it really depends on where you are. The "tropical storm" they keep mentioning is gone.
