rustinorman
Unfortunately I can use no more the cloth which came with my iMac to clean the display. What is the best method to clean the display without damaging the "coating"? Can I use an anti static cloth? Thanks for yor advise.

xvend
I use the thai equivalent of windex with kleenex or toilet paper. Never had an issue. Spray the tissue (not the screen) just enough to saturate it. Clean in a gentle circular motion. Use a dry tissue in the same manner to remove any streaks. dominique355
I use a microfiber cloth, like they use for cleaning glass lenses. Even the very soft ones sold for household chores, work fine. They can be washed and re-used many times. No need for chemicals. And they certainly don't scratch the screen.
villagefarang
If you have an older iMac it is pretty easy to remove the screen and clean both inside and outside. Just look on You Tube for tutorials. I did it a few times with my old iMac 24 but not sure about the newer retina displays as I haven't tried yet. It is not good to use anything with ammonia around electronics or aluminum, ammonia is very corrosive. rice555
