Report by Pattaya One Team

PATTAYA: At 11am, on August 20, police announced the arrest of the ‘Pattaya throat slasher.’

Twenty-year-old Mr. Sarawuth (aka Tong) Joojomphol, was detained under warrant no. Pattaya 284/2559, dated 15th August 2016, for the charge of suspected robbery, assault and the possession of knife in public place.

On August 6 Banglamung Police Station were informed of a man riding his motorcycle who had his throat slit and was asking for help in front of Prasobchoke M. 2, Takieantia, Banglamung, Chonburi.

He was rushed to Banglamung Hospital but could not give any information about his attacker. The cops immediately announced that the suspect ‘must be a foreigner.’

As usual they were wrong and today, after an investigation, they have confirmed that the suspect, Mr Sarawuth, has admitted the crime and explained that he had an ‘argument with his wife and was angry.’

Oh, he was very angry! Okay, 500 baht fine and anger management class! No, lets go for 20,000 THB Fine, pay the hospital bill and

200,000 THB to the victim and 20 years in prison! He won't do it again!

The BIB initially said   "  it must be a foreigner   "   of course it must and got it completely wrong,   oh what a surprise.

Then they hold a probably unnecessary re-enactment for the benefit of the media  and publicity but can't even secure the scene or their prisoner who gets attacked   !

This is the police farce that DPM Prawit said must sue people for defamation to protect their good name and reputation   !   :cheesy:

It's nearly christmas and Pattaya has issued only 284 warrants? The crackdown must be working.

Pattaya One going off script again. One of these days they are going to get into trouble. There is no concept of free press here and journalists and publications are frequently targeted in different ways by powerful entities.

I wish them well but hope they have very powerful friends.

I think us foreigners should band together and file a defamation lawsuit against the police. :)

Is it just me, or is there no mention of being attacked after he was arrested in the article?

The headline "Pattaya Throat Slasher Arrested And Then Attacked by Victim’s Friends" seems a bit misleading(or outright lying).

last night's girlfriend showed me a video of this, crazy group of people beating this guy, cops had no control.

just trying to look important in their uniforms.

the punishment needs to be reviewed and ought to be made suitably punitive.

Defamation of foreigners is the way police try to get rid of their incompetence!!!!!!!!!!!

So all foreigners should go to court with that general defamation of foreigners.

And i adore Pattaya ONE to name that : maybe a start back to normal reporting in this country!

Well he is arrested and will stay behind bars for a long time. You don't know he will get 500 baht fine and then released do you ?

History tells us quite a lot!

Well if he had an argument with his wife and was angry, then that makes it A.O.K doesn't it?  Pretty much what all us falangs do when we disagree with her-indoors anyway, so no wonder the BIB figured it was one of us.

Follow-up by Pattaya 1 on the court outcome would be nice.  We would like to know what he gets fined for impersonating a falang.  Gosh those new sim cards will sort all this stuff out in a trice. Can't wait!!!

crying wolf, eventually everyone will immediately assume us foreigners are innocent when the police announce one of us did it. imagine what we will be able to get away with.

This is a good way to inflame the ex pat community by accusing foreigners of something without facts. Now they find out it was a Thai

This is why the Thais and foreigners do not trust the police and never will Where is the reform?

I am disgusted

The Keystone Cops comes to mind ! These policemen have probably received absolutely no training at all, and are told that farangs are fair game. This place is going to the dogs and many expats are leaving for friendlier places :(

1. Excellent pointy photo, 10 out of 10

2. Where did perp get those pants?

3. How could he bear to be seen dead ( or alive) in them?

I was angry with my wife for about 20 years .... I came here for a holiday and met my now Thai wife , a good anger management situation.

Hey!  You stop defaming the Keystone Cops right now!  They were loved and adored by millions.  No comparison at all really!

The slasher learned What goes around Comes around. Bravo to his friends either Thai or farang.
