They will have to stop picking the good parts out of UN news releases telling everyone who will listen how the UN understands the Junta's position , they sure did and told them to get back to democracy is very blunt terms , which made the papers in Cambodia but not in Thailand.............................................

Odd how they manage to fool some Thais but not very many foreigners. I suppose one could draw some conclusions from that... I have very bad feelings about these people, they're upping the ante and turning nasty. The true character of people will always find a way to shine through the masks.

We can see the slight of hand perhaps ?

The broken promises ...the gulag solutions , arrests and injustices.

Maybe they will have a farang guest spot where expats thank them?  ( on this new show...verifying the polls that they will produce?)

Maybe no negative feedback will be permitted?

Unlike the junta diverse opinions are welcomed here.

People who mistake oppression as progress ( in my opinion) can often be found to have an orientation towards controlling at expense of fairness.

Elites have common threads.
The delusion of right of birth.
Better than thou mentality.

But eventually like an organic mass the beast is consumed in the wild of political time.
Eaten by the ants that are the great unshaven.
Thailand is fast approaching the wounded staggering beast.
Night will fall.
It will die.

For me personally this is a double edged sword. Sundays are MY days when in Thailand.

It is the day I am pretty much left unmolested and free as the air. The missus takes the kids and departs to visit pals and/or relatives leaving me to my own devices so usually, replete from a Full English, around noon I venture forth to my old stomping ground of Lower Suk, Patpong or Khao San Rd (depending on my mood) and have a nice quiet Sunday with some top tunes, maybe meet a pal or two, and basically try and reconnect with my personal bygone BKK, a bit of shopping before enjoying a Thai evening with our maid and her gang of daft pals, then onto footie later., now |I have to do it with these buffoon's words bouncing round my onion. This could cut both ways. I'll either be so wound up by their BS it'll make my cider and cigars turn to ashes in my mouth , or the day will pass in a roseate hue, self tickled to the floating ribs by their ribaldry.

Apologies for the self indulgent nature of this post but I miss my Sundays in BKK and won't be back for another seven weeks.....I guess this can always elect not to watch but as (at first) the show will no doubt be the topic of chatter while on my rounds I suppose I'll have to....

I hope the presenter is better at TEnglish than the "English" speaking presenters on ?Channel 5 TGN [Thai Global Network].....

Has anyone at Thai Visa offered to produce the broadcast?  It's a natural.  All of the apologists here think of a lot better excuses than the Thai guys do.  And think of all the fun when Trump gets elected and you could have a platform for the sour grapes brigade.

never heard such a negative bunch of people that have posted so far on this thread, you must all live really depressing lives,  you see nothing but negativity in everything

I quite welcome this attempt to share news and events to English audiences and I'm willing to see how it goes, if it's a flop then it's a flop and I will be the first to say so, but since it hasn't actually started then I reserve my opinion

sad depressing lot you are.......it's almost funny

Oh don't bother reserving your opinion, I think we all know what it will be.

Unreserved approval of an Orwellian performance.

Maybe. Not for very long I don't think. Pressure already being applied if you get my drift.

I for one will be watching it and will comment once I have seen it. I know that the vast majority of you here dislike the current government, please note that I used the "dislike" purposely and you lot would use much stronger language I know.

Personally, for me I want to see what they are going to say, yeah, I know it's going to be propaganda, but having travelled quite extensively in the last couple of years I have also seen some of the good they have done, for example, we went to visit a close friend in the North recently, he's an expat by the way, and he showed me a massive project that was being done by a private contractor, Prayut paid a visit, didn't like what he saw, got rid of the contractor and had the Army move in and finish the job on schedule & on budget.

Yep a one off maybe but at least they get off their backsides and do something, unlike previous administrations.

I have an open mind on the current leaders, I will probably be called naive or worse, but hey it's not my country, I'm a visitor, I enjoy my life here and as long as it stays that way I will always be happy here.

Flame away boys & girls. :wai2:

It's a reasonable post, no need for flames, though a private contractor being replaced is a drop in the ocean compared to everything else they've been up to, in their own selective way. How is it not cause for alarm for you?

Actually I expected flames myself when I used the word 'evil'... I'm not even sure I know what it means or how meaningful a word it is but it just seemed to slip by with no comment (or ban or anything).

Well I disagree... (with myself) saying they are evil is like saying a primitive or animal is evil, kinda silly really.

They don't seem very nice though, do they, arresting old ladies and not following up statue park corruption investigations very well.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Squeegee. There truly are evil people in this world - the word 'evil' does have meaning, reality and relevance. For example: authorities' knowing that a very rich and spoiled brat has murdered and possibly raped two British tourists on a Thai island - and then knowingly blaming it on two defenceless, utterly powerless and innocent Burmese boys,  who may well be sent off to the execution chamber in consequence: THAT is EVIL - no other word will suffice!

The Junta sure gives themselves a lot of free TV time. Must be nice?

I watched a bit of it yesterday on Ch. 11, "cringeworthy" comes to mind. The Junta can barely deliver a coherent message to the populace in Thai - other than to "lie back and enjoy it", watching some government lackey answer softball questions in English was, not funny exactly, but more lamentable.

Not sure who the intended audience is exactly? Suspect this was some Junta's family member's idea, which got implemented.

Maybe it will show up here... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCprW3qy6P2AU_nG-EwS4aRg/videos

Where on earth do you find an Anglican church offering Evensong?  (Serious question).

"Father Fintan Stack" may be able to help you....:D

Seriously, there is a CofE church on Convent Road in Bangkok - "Christ Church" I believe it is called.

As a filthy Papist, I'm afraid I can't tell you whether it is Provisional or Official wings of the CofE.
