Hi Everyone.

My wife is applying for the FLR(m) to stay in UK as we have just married on 20th August on a Fiancee visa.

I Have filled all the documents out for my wife and we have come to the end where you need supporting documents. Our main problem is the correspondences needed as although we having been living together on a Tourist Visa then a Fiancee visa my wife and I dont have any joint letters to the house or and bills. My wife doesn't actually have any.

So would it be better to say we have been living with my parents and get my dad to write a letter to say this is true and he can supply council tax bills etc to show he lives there.

Or would it be better to just explain that my wife hasnt got any letter in her name at this house?

Another thing it keeps mention about us living together for 2 years? Well obviously we haven't lived together for 2 years so I dont know what to make of that?

Any help greatly appreciated as I need to do this applications ASAP.

Thanks

Terry

Do not lie in the application! You have not been living with your dad, so don't say that you have.

The form asks for documents covering the period from the applicant's last grant of leave; so obviously you do not need to provide two years worth.

It also says in Note 11 that if you cannot provide 6 documents and/or documents addressed to you both then include a brief note explaining why. Obvioulsy in your now wife's case it's because she entered with a fiance visa and so has only been living in the UK for 6 months at most, hasn't been able to work etc.

The form and guidance are poorly worded, they should, I believe, make this more clear for those, like your wife, who entered as a fiance or proposed civil partner and are now applying for their first FLR following the marriage or civil partnership.

If your wife has registered with your local GP then you should have a confirmation letter from them. Also send documents addressed to you at the same address.

The UKVI will be well aware that there may be difficulties providing this evidence.

It is very unlikely this is going to be a stumbling block!

Your wife's name should be on the council tax register for your property, so get that sorted as a starter if she isn't. Most utility companies will allow joint names on accounts, so that's another. Other things to do would be to open a bank account in your wife's name or a joint account with yourself, a joint account is probably better. A basic savings account would do, doesn't even need to be funded. Your wife could also apply for a national insurance number, whether she intends to work or not.

You won't get instant documentation for everything but you might get some stuff in time for the application and you'll need the same again for your wife's next visa application so the sooner you get her name on some paperwork the better.
