Non-immigrant O switch to Visa free entry?

Featured Replies

I currently have a job in Thailand, Non-immigrant O visa(I just got it 2 weeks ago, can't leave the country for 90 days?). I am quitting next week, invalidating my visa, and leaving to Myanmar for a few days. Upon return will I be able to re-enter with Visa free entry, and will I have to pay any penalties?? (US Passport holder). Thanks!

  • Your visa is not invalidated when you quit your job.
  • If the visa is a multiple entry you can continue using it until it expires. If it's a single entry then it's already used.
  • You can stay for the remainder of your 90 day permit to stay.
  • As long as you don't have a history of visa exempt entries you should have no problem re-entering without a visa and will be granted 30 days. That 30 day stay can be extended at immigration by 30 days for 1,900 baht.
  • If you are the spouse or parent of a Thai you can extend the current or future stays by 60 days for 1,900 baht.
