The national police bureau have appealed for help from rental companies and the public after CCTV showed that the gang who stole 12 million baht from Government Savings Bank ATMs used three specific vehicles.

The eastern European gang - who are believed to have fled Thailand already - are wanted by police in several countries apart from Thailand and any information leading to their arrest is useful.

They are believed to have used rented cars namely a Honda Civic, a Toyota Vios and a Toyota Fortuner to tour ATMs in the south and Bangkok to steal money.

Head of the investigation Panya Mamen appealed to rental companies who might have noticed the return of the vehicles in question by eastern Europeans in the period of July 26th to August 10th.

Any information about the men would be useful.

Members of the public are also asked to provide information; the white Civic was spotted at the J and P Supermart on CCTV in the Tha Chatchai area of Phuket on July 16th at 5.50pm.

CCTV also caught the Fortuner at Ban Hin Luk Diaw in the same area on the 27th of July at 11.15pm.

The Vios was seen at a gas station called ก.กิจ (gor git) Petroleum in the Phunphin area of Surat Thani at 12.19am on a day that was not specified in the report.

Must be a scammer's paradise here. Will there be some sort of crackdown on foreigners' visas because of local and national incompetence.

Whatever happens, there will be some knee jerk reaction.

What are you going to do is you find the cars pray tell? are you going to go for

extraditions of those people you have no idea who they are? and if even you

find the cars, most likely they have used fake ID's to rent the car and paid in

cash that they now have no shortage of,

stop wasting your time chasing ghosts, you and your banks have been stung and

stung badly, you go and try to improve security measures of your banking and ATM

systems, as this country is awash with criminals and scammers wanting you easy money.....

PIN & CHIP would go a long way to making it more secure but they need stronger than that. Wouldnt be a bad start though. I know they have started the chipped cards but like many things they start too late

Retribution

Maybe on the spot Farang fines if found venturing the streets without a Thai chaperone. We've literally become an epidemic eyesore, a public liability. We need also be taught how to respect Thai culture like Tuk Tuk, Taxi and motorbike drivers and never question their ethics. We need to appreciate a good beating now and then making us more alert as to what expect if we step out of line. Invest all your life savings in Thailand being self-assured your money's safe in their 51% share of everything you own. You must never forget, your wives families only have your best interests in mind here in paradise. Enjoy the good life with a swift funeral. No need for family members abroad wasting money to come paying respects now your well catered for. You've become an important part of the villagers investment projects and your money eh' mean advice is always welcome..... Keep the baht flowing ......, :cheesy::cheesy:

Do you really mean that some jerk will give us the knee again. Immigration tightening for sure. Don't the ATM camera's take a closeup when you push all the right or wrong buttons??  It should be a law that you must look at the camera and smile or no dough.

are you suggesting giving up on the scammers .  they should be investigated. no one is perfect and some lead may be found during the investigations.

Brain and mouth not connected.

A white Honda Civic ? Can't be more than a few thousand for rent in Thailand, apprehension seems inevitable.
