PATHUM THANI:-- Many LPG gas canisters exploded on a Pathum Thani road north of Bangkok after a pick-up descending a bridge overturned yesterday morning.

The pick-up was carrying about 40 gas canisters and some thirty either exploded or were damaged. Four cars caught fire and it took five fire engines thirty minutes to bring the blaze under control.

But no one was killed - in fact only one man called Suksan Daenpokkorn was slightly injured. He hurt his hand as she smashed his way out of a vehicle saving his own life.

One driver Wirawat Jatjan, 32, said that the driver of the gas delivery truck lost control as he came down a bridge. The tanks came off and exploded one after another. He and others ran off in terror leaving their vehicles to burn in the inferno.

The incident happened in the Khukhot area of Lamluka on the Hathairat Road at 10am.

Khukhot police are gathering witness statements and investigating the incident. they said that the road surface was damaged in the explosions but they do not yet know the cost of all the damage inflicted.

The driver of the gas delivery pick-up told police that he lost control when his vehicle suffered a puncture.

They were probably just held in place  with a few rubber bungee cords.

definitely not properly secured and the shifting of the cargo made the truck lose balance.

If it was a standard pickup truck with 40 LPG (propane) canisters, I doubt there was much room on board for the load to shift.

40 LPG canisters are also very heavy for a vehicle that size.

Hazmat highway sounds like israel, still a 3rd world country by all means

Has Mat means hazardous materials.

Guess that makes you look a little silly.

And Israel third world country?

Think not, probably more developed as your country.

Including some if it's inhabitants.

How could they explode? Were they the old bottles without valveprotection?

I build a very nice cabinet in our kitchen for the gasbottle, then we got a new bottle which is 3 cm higher so it doesn't fit :wai2:

That's why they make saws of all sizes and descriptions, manual and power driven......

Can we assume that the vehicle in the accident in the original report was smaller than this truck shown in an earlier upset from a few years ago? This vehicle wouldn't be classed as a pickup, would it?

Measure twice, cut once.

Read twice before you reply....the previous bottle fit perfect and had a 2 cm clearance to the shelf above it but the new bottle is 3cm higher as the old one....

Having exchanged numerous empty cooking gas tanks for full tanks,  even I know that all tanks are not the same size in height   Gas is sold by volume, not by the size of the tank. There is more than one supplier of gas tanks. Do you  expect each company to have the same build specs.   If can't tell the difference in height by sight, take a tape measure with you.

No, just one small typo, unlike your triple question mark error.
