November 23, 200619 yr Does anyone have recent experience with registering a child with the British embassy? A friend is going through the process and finding it quite complictaed. He officially married his wife after the child was born and the child is now 10 months old. The embassy said he needs to conduct a domicile test interview. Does anyone know what the criteria are for registering children with the embassy, have recent experience with this or know what the domicile test is intended to test for?One of the questions is apparently - Where would you like to die and be buried?
November 23, 200619 yr hi ...i got married after my sons birth, and had to through the same system to register his birth and get a uk passport.it is quite simple really and the embassy staff were very helpfull. i know that the questions on the domicile form are a bit silly but i just put UK as the answer for the question you said and all the other ones.you will have to have a interview as well and then wait for the passport and birth certificate, dont panic it is simple.
November 23, 200619 yr hi again..just go to the british embassy website and get all the info, thats what i did. it is all on there!!
November 23, 200619 yr See also Consular Birth Registration. I believe that the domicile questions are to determine that after marriage, the father satisfies the definition of parent as defined in the British Nationality Act 1981 (sections s47 and s50(9)).
