Depends on if you need a Visa to enter the Country you are going to.

Always bring a set of 4 with you. Probably you will have one left to give to a nice girl or guy.

If you are doing a border run to Malaysia, no photo is needed. If doing a border hop to Cambodia or Laos, you will need one for the required visa on arrival.

 

As a matter of principle, always keep a few visa photos in your wallet. You never know when they might come in handy, and it is not as if they take up much space.
