Thai Oysters

Featured Replies

I was out and about and saw these imported oysters. Pretty hefty price IMHO.

I've never seen Thai oysters in the West and was wondering why ? Are they not allowed to be shipped live ? Poor quality or too small ?they seem to be in abundance here and cheap as chips.

Is there that much of a difference in quality ??

Thai exported oyster wouldn't be cheap as chips at their destination.

Imported oysters suffer the same fate

Six quid for one oyster? How daft. Which shop is that?

Oysters from warm waters are, like most seafood, much less tasty than the same item from cold waters. So I doubt there would be much interest in exporting them to eat fresh as by the time they got wherever they were going they would probably cost as much as cold water ones. Maybe for use in catering.
